Every Tuesday it’s always worth a trip up to Puente Don Manuel because that is when we hold our local market at Chiringuito Antonio.  It is full of a wide range of exiting things for sale, from the home made food, approximately six stalls, Julie’s home made chutneys (superb) to the hand crafted glass, some beautiful hand made cards. Norma makes some beautiful cards and small paintings. We have a watchmaker who can repair your watch and there is a stall which sells baking tins and all those kitchen nick nacks that are so useful. We have a person who sells wonderful bedding, duvets, sheets and even the beds! Also in one of the shops recently opened at Antonio’s is Andy Miller with his Ink cartridges, printing and photocopying services; he also is an agent for a postal service to the UK, always handy. 

There is the Boothill bikers bar right next door to Chiringuito Antonio's and this very friendly bar holds a bikers’ meeting every Thursday night. This is the place to meet on a Tuesday morning and the Axarquia car club for sports and classic cars meet there the first Sunday in each month, so if you are into classic cars ring 657768479 for details, you will not be disappointed.  The Tuesday market is THE place to meet every week and for the past three years it has been the place to go and while away the time with friends and acquaintances old and new meeting up every week to 'chew the cud' have a natter and catch up on the local gossip. Also in Puente don Manuel there is a very elegant bar called Moreno's and they seem to have something on nearly every single night, on Tuesday you can join the salsa classes and then Wednesday and Thursday mornings they have yoga, then in the evening of Thursday the children get to do flamenco dance classes at 7pm and the adults tag along at 8.30 for their flamenco dance classes.

Friday is the late party night with a dj with a good atmosphere for dancing the night away then to top it all they have live music on Saturdays and there is a concert booked for Saturday 19th May with a flamenco guitar, singer and dancer - should be good fun. No wonder they are closed on Mondays after all that activity! For any information call 686730377. We are in a beautiful part of Spain. The lake, which is on the turn off for Hotel Vinuela,  has lots of barbecue areas and you can walk all the way round the lake. Through Alcaucin, there is the National park land with the most wonderful views. The drive up through the pass to Zafarraya also has stunning views and it is possible to travel all the way round from Alcaucin, through the national parkland up to Zafarraya and then down through the pass to Puente Don Manuel, or drive up on through to Alhama de Granada to the natural springs.
