During the fishing season, which opened on 17th March 2006, bear in mind that permits, Licences and Federal Licences must be obtained from the Junta de Andalucia. If you don’t have these, you have to attend a course of information, regarding the rules and regulations of fishing here, the dates and places of which can be obtained from The Ministry of the Environment who runs these.
Sport Fishing
In this area, you will find one of the best places for Sport Fishing in the whole of the district because of the variety of species that populate the waters of the reservoirs.
In these reservoirs, which take up part of the Antequera district, you will come across the greatest variety of fish to be found in the whole of Spain.
Both national and international fishing competitions are held here. From the banks, you can enjoy catching fish such as Royal Carp, Barbel, ‘Bogas’, Pike, Small Carp, a kind of Perch and Trout, which have escaped from the River Turon, as well as Black Bass. These are some of the fish that you are guaranteed to find, because of the quantity that exist in these waters. Red Crayfish are protected and cannot be fished during the whole year.
Baits
Naturally, you are allowed to use bait during competitions. The best baits are worms, red maggots, if they are red, sweetcorn and dough, depending on the time of the year. The greatest enthusiasts fish using the techniques of Tail of the Rat and artificial bait made for them such as Flies and lures. Advice
