The University of Malaga has come to Antequera bringing the expertise and experience of university lecturers to all those who wish to learn Spanish. It is not only attracting foreigners who live in and around Antequera, but they also hope to bring in students from abroad and can organise accommodation for them. What a delightful place to come to learn Spanish!

They run monthly intensive courses, which are taught in the mornings, Monday to Friday. These include two hours of language study, two hours of communicative skills and an hour on Spanish and Hispanoamerican culture. They also organise monthly cultural activities such as visits to places of interest in Antequera, the Museum and the Dolmens for example, as well as trips to El Torcal, the Flamingo Lagoon in Fuente de Piedra and to other cities.

There are many advantages to studying with the University of Malaga. Firstly, they are native speakers and university lecturers offering students the opportunity to learn real Spanish in real situations. Then, the programmes are well-rounded, not forgetting the fact that when studying intensively you improve your Spanish more rapidly which is an encouragement in itself. Last but not least, the cost of the courses is so reasonable, running at a mere 4 euros an hour, and classes are small with a maximum of 10 students.

Apart from the monthly intensive courses, it is possible to enrol for several months, or for two or three weeks. There are six levels of class and on the first day, students are evaluated and placed in the appropriate one. Furthermore, if you wish, you may take an exam to gain a certificate or diploma.

Students who have already begun an intensive course say, ‘It’s fantastic! You feel you are really getting somewhere and are encouraged by the progress you make.’

They are going to have meetings in Fuente de Piedra on 8th February, Humilidero on 22nd February with one in Colmenar sometime in the same month where they will explain the courses and answer questions.

You will find the University of Malaga Intensive Courses in the Complejo Educacion ‘El Henchidero’ on Calle Rio del Rosal, San Juan, Antequera. Their leaflet gives all the details and includes an application form. You can visit or call 952845902 or look at the website on www.cexantequera.com for more information.

Why not make it your new year resolution to learn Spanish, get to grips with those irregular verbs or improve your communication skills. Commit yourself to an intensive course and you’ll find a whole new world waiting for you.
