The English Country Sports Lounge and Café in Sierra de Yeguas has opened its doors to young and old alike and offers a unique opportunity to enjoy an astonishing range of activities. The first point to mention is that the Sports Lounge is separate from the Café so, those of you who want to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, with conversation, will not be disturbed by the clatter of snooker balls or the rumble and clunkj of a skittle alley. Likewise, those who wish to play will find ample elbow room in the 300 square metres of the games room! Did I say the rumble and clunk of the skittle alley? Yes – amazingly, this old English pub game can now be found here! Forget Ten Pin Bowling, there’s nothing quite like meeting up with a group of friends to while away the time in a skittle alley. This one is made of solid wood, is tucked away in a corner and has its own lighting. Meanwhile, you will also find two American Pool tables, plus a small-sized one for youngsters and, as the star of the set, a full-sized snooker table. This must be unique in the area and should delight those who have deplored the ubiquitous move to pool. So, what else is on offer here? Air hockey, table football and a proper dartboard, instead of a ghastly electronic one, round up the usual suspects. As for the English Country Café side of things, this will now have a lounge area with comfortable seating and coffee tables, with a view of the 68 inch television. In this light and airy café, they continue to serve snacks but also have a comprehensive English menu which includes Sirloin Steak and Sunday lunch. They alternate between lamb, beef and pork on Sundays. As their delicious Sunday lunches are proving really popular, please book to avoid disappointment! They can also rustle up something Spanish, as they do for the local builders for example, and they do tapas too. It’s a standard bar where you’ll find scrumptious milkshakes, coffee and English tea as well as beer and spirits. They have two televisions and offer sport on demand, which covers cricket, football, cycling, rugby – in fact, whatever the Sports Channel or Spanish tv are showing. If there is something special you want to watch, just ask. The internet, already up and running, is proving to be yet another draw to this spacious, friendly place. The large terrace is a great place to be in the Summer, with its beach bar with thatched roof, tables and chairs and music. The English Country Sports Lounge and Café offers such variety and space. You could hold your Club Nights there, celebrate a birthday, organise a BBQ or Skittle Night to raise money for charity…. or have a great night out with your family. They can cater for functions and are always interested in talking to people about these. They are open from 11am on Tuesday to Saturday, from 12 noon on Sundays and are closed on Mondays. With its large games room separate from its café, its huge variety of activities, its friendly bar with the best Sunday lunches, it really seems an ideal place for family or friends, groups or clubs, to come to relax, chat, play a game or two or enjoy a meal. Why not pop over and see for yourself!
