Olvera Properties are booming and we spoke to Melanie Coe to find out why Olvera has become such a popular place to buy property. Local Connections: So, how are things going?
Melanie Coe: We are very busy! Booming! It’s really exciting. We now have four part-time workers, together with English-speaking lawyers and architects. We have an excellent team of Spanish builders and tried and tested plumbers and electricians. L.C: Why do you think Olvera has proved to be so popular?
M.C: Olvera’s a beautiful town in a wonderful location. However, property prices here are 70% cheaper than in other places. We have some amazing bargains on our books.
L.C: Can you give us an example?
M.C: Well, a couple spring to mind. There’s a traditional Spanish property that has been beautifully renovated, keeping all the traditional features, such as vaulted, beamed ceilings. It has two bathrooms and has been completely rewired. At 185,000E it is a ridiculous price for such a lovely house. We also have two houses which could be turned into apartments or converted into one large property.
L.C: We believe you now have property for sale in Pruna. Can you tell us something about this?
M.C: Pruna is in the valley, very Spanish, with lovely views of Olvera and the countryside. We have a range of properties there including a lovely one that has been completely renovated, with views, patio, garage and roof terrace. In all, we have an amazing selection of properties in both places – something to match any budget! The rental market is growing too and we need more for that.
A final point, Olvera is on the Via Verde which won first prize for the most beautiful one in Europe. This has brought tourists, cyclists and ramblers. Within the town of Olvera, young under-graduates, who speak English, French and German, help with tourists and next year there will be a great new Music Festival.
