Eye to eye with the wolves Print E-mail
Written by Elizabeth Partridge

Are you looking for a new destination for a day out and to witness wolves in an exceptional environment that leaves no doubt that animals in captivity do have a chance to live in a semi-natural habitat? In Antequera, you’ll find the LOBO PARK, a private wolf park, where you may look a wolf in the eye for the first time in your life.
Daniel Weigend and Alexandra Stieber have created a park, with four different wolf species, which doesn’t have its equal anywhere in the world. In their way of socializing, the wolves allow us to see and perceive them as they are in the wild.  During the guided tours, you may get the drift of an unforgettable experience when Daniel enters one of the vast enclosures to visit his wolf friends. You observe no submissive wolf when they greet each other as friends, on the contrary they will howl together to reinforce their friendship.

Not only do the wolves live a happy life, so do all the many other animals that have found a home in the LOBO PARK. Partly donated or rescued animals live in the animal farm, which is visited during the guided tour. There you will meet animals such as Oscar the fox, who will change your image of a much disliked animal. He has been hand reared by the owners and loves to be cuddled.

If you are looking for a very special evening out, don’t miss booking the weekend ‘Howl Nights’ starting in May until September. Enjoy a BBQ on the terrace with a spectacular view of the El Torcal during sun set. Then go on the guided Wolf Tour where you experience active wolves in the evening hours inter-acting. Undoubtedly you will be overwhelmed when you hear the different wolf packs howl to each other.
