Alhaurin el Grande, 20 kilometres inland from Malaga, is the most picturesque town in the Guadalahorce Valley. It fits very much with the traditional view of a rural Spanish pueblo - an old town of narrow winding streets, squares and an established café culture plus a new town with all the shops and facilities for everyday life. It accommodates a family of cultures, too, reflecting the international nature of the Costa del Sol.

And talking of families, that’s very much the culture behind Alhaurin Estates and Rental Centre, based in Ave. Gerald Brenan. It’s owned and operated by two families – Carlton and Linda Hartley and Brian and Sally Adams. Carlton and Dale were among the first British families to settle in the town where they ran Carlton Estates for more than eight years, gaining a vast amount of experience. In the autumn of 2006, they joined forces with Brian and Sally who had taken over Alhaurin Estates earlier that year.

With their combined strength, Carlton Adams Associates have redoubled their efforts to make their real estate agency a little different from the others - treating their customers in the same way they would expect to be treated, and always prepared to go that extra mile to find the right sort of property at the right price, be it a rental or a sale. They are independent of any groupings and they concentrate on their local area. But they also work with other family run businesses in southern Spain to find the best options available in all price ranges.

They do it their way because Alhaurin el Grande is their home as well as a place to do business and they know what it’s like for newcomers making the move, not just into a new property but a new way of life.

Alhaurin nestles into the northern slopes of the Sierra Mijas mountains and has spectacular views of the patchwork of lemon, orange and olive groves that make up the Guadalahorce Valley. You can see some of our photographs of Alhaurin el Grande in our gallery at www.alhaurinestates.com

Although they share the name "Alhaurin", el Grande and de la Torre have little else in common. Alhaurin de la Torre is a new development and serves as a commuter town for Malaga. It has many facilities and feels much more urban as opposed to the rurality of Alhaurin el Grande. De la Torre is approximately 15 minutes drive away.

Coin

Coin is situated inland approximately 20 kilometres from Malaga and is, perhaps, already known to many as the setting for the short-lived BBC soap "Eldorado" of the mid-90’s. The town shares some of the Moorish (and Roman) architecture with Alhaurin el Grande, but has grown into a more urbanised area that has become popular with both Spanish and British. It has good shopping centres and services including a large shopping mall and cinema complex popular with local residents. Coin tries hard to maintain its cultural Spanish identity and is a noted regional centre for Flamenco.

Five kilometres along the road east from Alhaurin el Grande are the twin settlements of Cartama Pueblo and Cartama Estacion. There is a thriving expat community which has been tempted by the location and investment opportunities. Property here is still cheaper than in Alhaurin el Grande and as new facilities such as a large health centre are built, the area looks set for increasing prosperity in the years to come.

So Alhaurin Estates and Rental Centre office has been an established estate agency and rentals centre for eight years with new ownership from the beginning of 2006. We are an independent family run agency and pride ourselves on our professional service. We will go the extra mile to help you get the property you want and at a price others can’t beat!

We can help you find your dream property either tor rent or to buy and unlike some other agencies, we specialise in Alhaurin and the surrounding areas.

We do this because Alhaurin is our home as well as a place to do business and we know what it’s like making the move, not just into a new property but a new way of life.

When you search our property listings, you will see properties primarily in Alhaurin and the surrounding towns. But if you specifically want something elsewhere in Spain, we will still be able to help. In addition to English and Spanish, we also speak French, German and Italian and will be happy to assist those looking to move into the Alhaurin area from elsewhere in Europe.
